Lessons I've learned.....how to appreciate not catching fish.....how to be happy with garfish......how to NOT obsess over fishing EVERY minute.....how to learn(even after all this time).....how to not try SO HARD.....enjoy each day as it is(good or not so good)....my dues are not paid(EVER).....I am not entitled to anything.....not one minute taken for granted.....I can fix stuff myself(just don't be lazy)....

When my cousin purchased this land, he wanted 2 deer stands that would support 3 hunters in each stand, with sleeping quarters........deer feeder within bow range
from at least one window, fold down racks to sleep on, room for gun racks, food storage and a potty. It actually has two floors, one floor without windows for storage.
The bottom storage is open and working tools are stored there that he didn't mind someone stealing if they were able to find it. The other stuff is secured and the upper loft is insulated and has a heater in it. He has numerous stands of all configurations on his property that can be used by the younger fellers that are still paying their dues. Seniority has it's place and this is one of those places. Yep, this is the way we do it in Texas and it works great for us older folks. I normally pull my 5th wheel to his property so I don't have to listen to all the snoring.
Kids and relatives get to hunt free. Glad he is my double cousin. His mom and my mom were sisters and his dad and my dad were brothers. We come from large families and lots and lots of cousins. We meet on a regular basis at a selected restaurant for family dinners and visiting. Too many to get under one families roof.

Just a check in. Awesome hive and stand Joe.Great floors and boxes Randy. Awesome last post Tal. I read it after I posted to your dubison post and that is what I meant. Mae and I have been on the road 25 nights with 10 or so to go. Main things we visited. Estes Park in the Rocky Mtn Nat Pk. Mt Rushmore. Great elk visits. My great nephew, his wife and son in Rapid City SD. 3 nights in Billings for repair to slide out rams. $2400, of which ext warranty paid $1550. Ouch. Yellowstone, awesome, bison. Salt Lake City.Visited state capital,Mormon square, Catholic Cathedral. Beautiful all. Bryce/Zion canyons. Beautiful, but did not like drive through Zion. Went 75 miles out the way so I did not have to drive back through it. Herd of mule deer stepped out in front of our truck in Bryce. They are huge. Flagstaff,Grand Canyon, totally breathtaking. God could only make the things we visited. Next, Albuquerque to visit uncle/aunt. Clovis NM to visit 2 grandboys. Then lay around Fredericksburg Tx. for a few days to give daughter a few extra nights in our house. Theirs is coming along great and should be complete except for floors by mid next week. Will make 35 or 36 nights on the road. Gonna owe my neighbor big time for keeping up the yard. Will do a photo report when I get back. Danny

Your post brings back memories of out travels Danny.
Not sure I shared this but I took early retirement in 2002, wife retired in 03. We sold our house, put what furniture we intended to keep in storage and wondered around this great country for 5 years in out Motorhome. Never once got tired of it and would have gone longer but our DIL came down with cancer and passed away. That brought us home to help out and we traveled a bit after that, but living on the road was wonderful. We visited all the spots you mentioned and many more.

I was digging around looking for something this evening. Found my worry dolls. A Guatemalan/Mexico tradition I picked up over there a few years ago. In traditional and modern times, worry dolls are given or lent to brooding and sorrowful children. They would tell their doll about their sorrows, fears and worries, then hide it under their pillow during the night. After this, the child will literally sleep over the whole thing. At the next morning, all sorrows are said to have been taken away by the worry doll.

I like them, made me smile when I saw them. After I saw them, forgot what I was looking for.

Best Friend left us this morning and is no longer suffering or in pain. Will be in Arkansas Monday and Tuesday to pay respects. Many memorable years enjoying life
together. Memories to last a lifetime.
