You're right for us folks that have a lot of property to tend to. I have experienced using cheaper methods, but it only burns the weeds/grass. I apply mine in the Spring and it's good until I apply again in the Fall. It works slows, won't see anything for a week or more. When it's though, all is dead to the dirt. What Bruce posted may very well work for folks that live in town for use around the yard and their beds. The glyphosate that I mix up will kill the small trees that pop up from the nuts that drop off from the oaks, pecans, etc.
