some cutting edge companies are in the process of doing the studies to deal with the resistance issue and in 3 to 5 years they should be able to come up with FDA approval of a prevention that will cover all of the resistant and non resistant species....so to answer the question, fairly sure we can keep them safe....yes .....with vigilance and timely and novel heart worm prevention......
