Garden

I used to plant large when I was young.Just got back into last 3 yrs. With the camp and camper, I don't want to spend more time on a garden than I do, but fresh is better. Wish I had some rabbits try and get to it, but none around. They are good smothered down, with fresh vegetables on the side. :yikes A 30 x 60 plot full. I don't eat cuc's,(rimes with:puke) doing that just for Mae. Now I do miss the corn, and to grow your own avocado's is awesome. I love them myself. Also, if you can grow a ribeye tree, I'm coming over!!rotfl

PPG, may I ask sir, what will a man do with 100 plus young fig trees? Are you planning to corner the market?

Well plants have trippled in size despite the weather they are getting there. Need rain to stop so I can pull my rows up again.

Freebird, that's a dang good question but I don't have a answer. But I will say this, some of those trees have recently sold for $400 on ebay. So maybe it's an investment.

Well the goodies are starting to come in. Yesterday I picked some sweet peas and shelled them and today I picked a mess of snapbeans. I should have a great supper tonight.

Talk about nice Gene! Love the pics, thanks. That sure will be excellant as you said. Do you like perserved blackberry jam? I jar up several each year. Gave Danny a jar last month when we met. Recently traded some with a friend of Ann who tapped their maple trees to make their own syrup in Vermont. That was excellent on her biscuits and sausage. If you jar up preservered figs, would love to have some. If you want to trade, let me know (not the maple syrup though, it stays here :))? Thanks for posting.

Randy, if I make a crop there will be fig perserves and yes you can have some. Last year because of the rain I lost most of my figs. I was able to just get enough to make a few jars of perserves and let me tell you we treat them like gold. I think I have 3 left which should just about make it to fig season. We love the figs during the winter with breakfast. They go great with bacon and eggs with toast or biscuits on the side. Now I know what I'm having for breakfast in the morning.

The snap beans we had for supper tonight and I'm disappointed with them. They are a new bean I was trying out but to put it bluntly, they weren't worth a hill of beans. They were tough and rather tasteless and I won't plant them again. We love our Contenders but I always try something new each year. I have plenty of Contenders coming in about 2 weeks. I also plant them in the fall. I must say the sweet peas were great. I only tasted as they are for tomorrow's lunch.
