    Default A Real Tragedy....

Years ago I was talking to a State Trooper friend....he said as a part of their training they are told to never drive on the Interstate in the left lane when driving over a bridge.....the reason is that if someone is going the wrong way and you meet them just over the rise in the bridge you will collide head on....you can not see them until the last second......and it did happen to him one night on patrol (no collision).....scary......Tuesday, as my wife and I were returning (westbound on I10) to Baton Rouge from fishing about 4:30 PM we saw a wreck on I10 at Hwy 30 in Gonzales that had happened at 4 PM......a West bound car going on the wrong side of the interstate had collided with an East bound car just over the rise (East side) of the bridge.....the East bound car did not have time to react......immdiately after the collision, a pickup ran into the back of the East bound car....sadly, the two women drivers of the cars died.... the pickup driver had non life threatening injuries.....around 1978 around 3 PM on a sunny afternoon I was driving my motorhome Westbound on I20 between Meridian and Jackson, Miss. (in the left lane).....something in my brain said something is not right.....I looked closely ahead and there was a car coming right at me...I checked my mirrors quickly and swerved to the right lane...I had time to see a little ole lady in her Sunday best (little hat too) both hands on the wheel totally oblivious to what was happening....checked my rear view mirrors again and cars were swerving all over the place.....

my point in posting is that this is something that could save someones life....pass it on to all your friends and loved ones....

Scary, and definitely an incentive to stay in the right side lane unless passing, but especially on bridges. Thanks for sharing.
