Sounds like a good day of fishing, nice catch. My plans to go this weekend were interupted by a couple of folks who work for me getting in trouble.

Sunday on a "Raleigh Parks" lake:

    3:00pm-6:00pm (best fishing between 4:00pm and 5:00pm)
    11 crappie 11" to 12.75"
    ***Homemade minnow rig
    Chartreuse tubejig w/out minnow

    #6 Vanish Transition Line
    4'-8' in 8-10'
    Water Temp: 69F

***big fish of the day caught on this bait

I presented my landscape design proposal in Cary, layed 10' of old, rescued bricks into a garden path back at home, looked at the time, and I still had a couple hours to put the boat out.

The only place I could find hungry fish was on the hump in the teeth of the wind. So be it, I brought an extra battery. Didn't quite need it. I saw a whole bunch of archs on the Lowrance as I pitched my bouy. But about 15 minutes and 8 keepers later, the archs were gone. I literally chased the archs around and eventually off the hump. Each time I caught a fish, the Lowrance stopped showing fish in an estimated 15' vicinity of that spot. Huh. Oh well, I know what the spot will be like when they REALLY stack up on it--and it's only a matter of time. 8/11 keepers were 12+" The jig was almost on par with the homemade rig today--5/11 keepers.

Back to work tomorrow. Got earn gas money for High Rock. FYI: gas is currently $2.86 in my home city of Peoria, IL. And with that, have a great night!

Good catch! I love "the quick fishing trip" Funny on the gas price --> always seems to be cheaper where I am not!

Great social...thankyou to all who contributed to the enjoyment of freeloaders like me!!

Strong wind made it difficult to slow troll out where all the positive reports have been generated lately. However, the strong winds pointed me closer to shore, where under 3 docks in 45 minutes, I caught 5 of the day's 6 10"+ fish.
I started the day fishing some docks ncnat suggested...I caught one 10.5" there on a jig. A little further up the bay, a brush pile got me (ncnat warned me about it, too). After that I fished brush piles and drops up Crow Creek? and Church Creek?. I caught over 40 fish today, and about half were 9+"...but quite a drought on keepers. On my way back I saw a couple guys fishing under main lake docks--and under the shallow, fixed portions. I followed them from one dock back. They were using jigs, but I didn't see them catch any. I went to a slip bobber...and caught a couple speckle-niners before I got snagged and broke off. Then I threw in my last homemade rig. The next 5 crappie were 10+".
On a different note, the wind and waves brought the docks to life. Each pier sang the same song but in their own unique tones--creeking, wistling, lapping, clanging, groaning. My boat and tackle sang along--crashing, banging, scraping, snapping. I chimed in too..cussing, swearing, shouting...and waving my hands around like the conducter of an orchestra. A truly memorable sonata.

Thanks again to to everyone who made this day special!

I agree with poppop...a CLASS act. The NC Crappie.com community is a CLASS of fishermen that don't need to lie on their posts; and a CLASS of people that most folks never get the priveledge to meet. As a community, we build off of our shared knowledge and experience--exponentially. It is an honor to be considered a contributing part of this group. I hope that my ACTIONS as a fisherman and person continue to reflect those of the NC Crappie.com CLASS. Thanks again for a great social.
