I started in the same place I have been having success lately and managed only one keeper...and barely one at that. Then I noticed a couple pontoons fishing shallow--and I thought I saw someone catch one. So I gave it a try. Boom! A nice female 4' down in 7' off the end of a downed tree. I got 3 more keepers off the same shore but no more females. I also lost at least 3 more that I think would have at least been 10". I probably should have trolled that shoreline, but explored instead. I tried other downed trees in other bays, but could not find water quite as warm as the bay I started in, and thus no more shallow fish. I got home early and gardened like there was no tomorrow!
I think I may pay a visit to a certain "Raleigh Area Lake" tomorrow. Wind or no wind, I'll at least play around with the 997si.

Signs of life! The lake is beginning to stirr. Forgot how hard the fish pull on that lake! My 1.15 lb crappie took out drag and looked huge...amazing to think that in only 1 month, that fish may barely raise an eyebrow! Still only found them in one spot, but had some good bites where I did really well last summer. Come on warm weather!
