Thread: Jordan "spots"

Hay all, thinking about hit Jordan some rather than the usual Harris this weekend. I keep hearing about S curves and various other areas that are good this time of year, can someone share general locations? Not looking for honey holes but maybe "put in at this boat ramp" and "go to this general area" I can use my electronics to do the rest.

Look for the shad. Jordan crappie as a rule don't stick tight to cover. They school under the shad, sometimes in winter they will be so close to bottom you can't see them. I don't like the s turns on weekend because of the traffic and it is narrow. I only fish the s turns on weed days. There are crappie all over Jordan. My guess right now would be some where around 20 ft but will come up on a warm day to get the sun. Good luck

Put in at Ebenezer or Poe’s Ridge if you want to fish the s turns. I believe you have to pay to park at Poe’s Ridge. It’s pretty easy to find it on the map. Look at the mid to southern region of the lake where it gets narrow and “s” like.

On 2d sonar look's like a blanket on bottom. ?

With my 2D the hard bottom is Yellow. When you see fish on the bottom it will be purple (Softer Return). So if you are seeing a blanket like that it could be bait fish or just a softer layer. When I see Fish (hoping for Crappie) on the bottom I'm looking for purple bumps.

thursday I had a solid yellow bottom wirh a thick layer of red. Is the red bait fish or maybe just mud?

Where using 2 echomap 73sv, bottom return is yellow with red under. Bait balls return if tight yellow.
Not my boat so I use helm mounted garmin at back of boat and use split screen 2d/Di , it's easier for me to see what I'm looking at.

From what i'm seeing now the fish are in hi 20's to 30ish ft and the ones we have caught was 16 to 18 down on minnows and jigs
