Hey guys I'm curious about these A-rigs and how yall fish them. Are y'all pulling leadcore with these, down riggers, or is it possible to fish these withoht leadcore or down riggers when trolling? I've really wanted to try some striper fishing just not sure about the technique as far as trolling goes. I actually rented a place on smith mountain lake VA for the first week of April in hopes of getting some nice stripers with my wife. Anyways, just curious about how yall fish these A-rigs cause they sure do seem to work!

Yes, you can fish them with leadcore or on downriggers. They don't go too deep without some weight. You can use umbrella rigs instead of Alabama rigs if you don't want to use leadcore. The umbrella rigs are heavier and will go deeper.

Kilacam I’m use the A-Rigs I get from Pete, I use 1/4 oz jig heads with different types of baits like paddle tails and curly tail grubs. I use 12lb test and troll with them like I do for crappie. Speed is everything just like crappie fishing. I want have down riggers until around April or May but they work best for accuracy. Give Pete a PM and he will hook you up.

Kilacam I pull Pete's rigs as well. Usually on 40 lb braid with a leader. I can get them to 20 to 24 foot with enough line out with 1/4 oz jig heads on the outside and a 1 oz bucktail on the center wire. I hardly ever use leadcore. Around here this time of the year, 20 foot is plenty.

Thanks cwright. Thats basically what I was hoping I could do. Ive got some abus with 40 lb braid for catfish on the ugly stick striper rods. I fish tillery and badin the most, also jordan but mainly for crappie. I'm currently installing new depth finder and painting the boat over my christmas break (teacher). Is striper fishing still decent in January on Norman, badin, or tillery?
