    Default Last Week at Jordan

Well we put out the hydraglow lights and went night crappie fishing late last week. It was very slow for us we only managed to catch 10 or so crappie and had 3 good keepers out of those. We were fishing anywhere from 15 to 25 feet of water. Most of the bait and fish we marked were hanging around 10 to 12 feet. We finally packed it up and headed home around 2:00 AM. Two weeks ago we caught them really good on a night trip out there.

How has everybody else been doing out there lately?

Not a Jordan fisherman but it has slowed for me the last 2 weeks. We've caught tons of white bass and perch out of HR but only a few dozen crappie last couple of trips. A few nice ones here and there though.

The crappie are slow biting and often not even taking the whole bait in their mouth. If you're using minnows, change how you hook the minnow. Tail hook or head hook them depending which is working...

Also, it seems as if the bite is pretty much nonexistent if they're not running water. Its cooled a little last few weeks and maybe they're not running water as much to generate power.

Same here. Went today and managed only 5 crappie but they were good keepers. Also some nice Perch. What size white bass did you catch? Asking because I caught 6 or 7 very small ( 6 in) white bass. Never done that before.

Went to Jordan a couple of weeks ago and caught a few crappie, but lots of white perch. We were long-lining and at one time we had every rod with a perch on it. Caught several cats as well up there feeding on the perch. There is so much bait right now that the fish have very little trouble getting a meal, plus the water temperature is up, so they are fat and happy right now. Makes it a little tough on us to catch them.

Just my opinion, but I think it has to do with oxygen levels. I'd about bet this rain will help the bite in the long run.

The white bass were about 6 to 8 inches. I bet I caught 30 to 40 last Friday night. 2 weeks ago I caught one close to three pounds. I don't mind catching them. They are nice and let you take them off the hook easily. I'm glad to see them coming back in numbers at HR.

A stinking perch is mad from the get go. Don't get me wrong. A perch fights hard and makes excellent bait.... they are better than nothing.

My fishing partner caught a 4 pound striper under the light last Friday as well.
