Hey, don't let knee surgery stop you. I got both hips replaced a few years back, each one year apart. Scheduled it middle of February so I could be crappie fishing the first of March. Got me a real comfortable chair for the front of my boat. A little tricky launching a boat on crutches but most of the time nice guys at the boat ramp were willing to help a man on crutches. I just made sure to put my life jacket on at the truck before going toward the dock. A little painful getting into the boat but great fishing after that. Plus getting paid medical leave from work while crappie fishing can't be beat! Additionally, I found that bending your legs is not so painful when you are running a trolling motor or putting a big crappie in the live well. Better than PT. In fact my PT person couldn't believe my progress. Didn't tell her it was because I was crappie fishing every day.
SO! I am one vote that crappie fishing is great PT after knee surgery. Good Luck!
