Harris Report + Questions
Fished Harris Sunday afternoon. I was there primarily to try out my new Lowrance Elite-5 TI fish finder which I must say is fantastic! Moved my other unit up front (Elite-4 Chirp) and everything worked great from the start so I spent more time fishing and less time tinkering than expected.
I was bottom fishing for the most part. Caught crappie in 25 ft but it was slow. I observed a lot boats bobber fishing about 5 - 10 ft deep, is that the preferred method this time of year? I think I remember seeing the same thing last year but I failed to make the connection. I did try hanging my baits 8 to 10 foot mark but no takers. Also tried cranking some small rattle traps and crankbaits in the 6-8 foot range, no takers.
Marked tons and tons of bait/fish at the 10 foot range.
So question is, in general this time of year, should I be looking to fish shallower with slip bobbers? Is that the well-known technique for this time of year and I need to get on the bandwagon?
