We are running the same rod setup on both sides: 18, 16, 14, 12, 12, 12, 12, 12 12, 14, 16, 18. We want the lines in the water to be 2' apart. If we catch a fish, then it gives us a 4' "lane" in which to wind in the fish. Big fish, including crappie, don't know the rules and often get out of their lane. We have tangles and spend part of our day tying on new jigs. It's just part of long-lining: fish tangles and break-offs on structure.

It was good to see Monk yesterday in the parking lot as we were taking out. He had taken his wife out for a drive in the country on such a nice day. Monk has so much knowledge when it comes to crappie fishing that it is always good to be able to get advice from him. He also has a wealth of good tackle on his website and some of it was used to catch or fish yesterday.
