Charles and I are in a bream tournament this coming Saturday, so we needed to get in a little practice. Put those 16' and 18' rods in storage and brought our the ultralights. Ounce for ounce, these bull Coppernose bream fight about as good as any fish you can catch. Jim went with us and it was his first time ever catching a Coppernose. He lives on a small lake in Raleigh and he has never seen such fighting fish.
We kept a few to eat, but am hoping to go back soon and fill up that cooler. With the spawn about to happen, it should be fun and tasty.

Gotta love the way a bull bream makes the line sizzle when it runs, especially on ultralight tackle. Your smiles tell the story. Good luck next time too.

Great job guys.
Way to go Charles and Dennis. I tried the Shellies and got skunked.
Sweet! They are good ones indeed. Congrats and good luck in the tournament.
Remind Hunter that there are big shellcrackers in Harris. He and I chatted about them last fall when I saw NCWRC sampling
Guys, what is the start / end time for the Tournament?!
Redboat check in starts at 5:30 blast off at 7:00 and weigh in is at 3. Shellcrackers, blue bream and redbreast are the only weigh-able fish. 15 fish limit.
