    Default Wiring Help PLEASE

Need some help guys. I'm going to put a depth finder up front. Any reason why I can't splice into my trim/tilt switch? I have a red, yellow, black on my power cord as showed in the pic. But my tilt/trim switch has green, red, and blue. Or my front navigation light has grey, black, and blue. Which would be better? Can I do it? And if I can will someone help with color to color. Yes I work at Duke Energy but I'm no electrician. That's a fact. Any help will be greatly appreciated!! Bass Pro wants $175 just to hook it up. Thanks in advance! I know this may get moved but I know some of you guys and I stuck it here.

I tried that, tied in to lights, and got some "noise" on my screen. Ended up running straight to battery with an inline fuse.

Yes, do yourself a favor and pull wires to the main battery, it will save you a lot of time down the road. Just remember the inline fuse.

Depending on the fish finder, as mentioned you could experience some RF frequency. When these newer units first came out, some folks had a helluva time getting rid of it. A lone power source and a fuse is an extremely smart start.

CrappieCatinRob, you'll only need to run one wire, you can ground it to the frame of the boat. Like everyone says go direct saves doing it twice

I bought my boat from there and had my ipilot and Helix 8 put on by them. I honestly thought they done a good job with it. But I've had several people tell me not to have them do work????
