This is a great thread full of information. I always wondered what you guys used. I suppose the smaller jigs, painted or not, will fall at a slower rate (and be more enticing), and the 1 oz. carolina-style set-up will get it down quicker and keep it down. So, the jig head is possibly not as big a factor as the tail, grub, or tube? (Except where some guys like the pink-painted jig head). Years ago when I used to bank fish for river crappie, I would never use anything but a 1/16 neon red head with a chartreuse curly tail. It was good on rainbow trout, too.
