    Default Lumber River

I cross the lumber river on 74 all the time headed to Wilmington for work. Was wondering if any of you have fished it.I've been wanting to fish some brakish water for sometime now and this is a cple hours from where I live. Will be mainly fishing for crappie and bream.I don't know if this is a good ramp to use or if there is a better one somewhere else.Any info would be appreciated.

The one at Boardman is not brackish. I overlooked this in your post.. Sorry!!!
I have fished the one at Boardman quite a few times,if this is the one you are referring to, a few years back. The ramp was not great but useable for a 14 ft.jonboat. A lot of people use the one man boat(creek) etc in here or just scull around. I used a 13 ft.Gheenoe with a small outboard and trolling motor. Had a ball!!! Blackfish aka mudfish are plentiful and fun, crappie, redbreast, bream, wasps snakes etc can be found here.. Either up river or down is great, plan a full day. I prefer downriver, look for blowdowns and deep pockets grass beds etc. The river moves at a moderate speed, so have plenty of power to get back home and good fishing. BTW i miss those days...

Fishhound, I have some buddies that fish it several times a year. They tell me there's some real good crappie fishing in there in the winter time. There are some more ramps up near Lumberton if I'm not mistaken. Good luck.

There is a boat ramp at Lumber River Campground. I don’t know what they charge ifanything. You can look them up on theinternet and call them.I took my bassboat there and caught a few small bass but didn’t crappie fish. It’s a nice river to fish. I would love to do it again.
