Thread: Black Crickets

If you're talking about the canned black crickets.... then stay away from them. They will not stay on a hook. Its about impossible to even hook them without them falling apart. I say they are pretty much useless but have never tried to use them for crappie.

Haven't ever used the black ones for crappie but I have caught many many brim on em as a youngster. We would catch the crickets.I guess the " wild" crickets are black crickets. About the same size as the brown ones you buy

I use to keep a cricket can on the lawn mower. Used a many a black cricket. I did catch some crappie with them on occasion but in those days I was truly just fishing.

Those were the good ol days.
