Does any none use mr crappie rods for spider rigging? Thinking about maybe buying some but looking for some feed back
Haven't tried Mr Crappie rods but have gone through all the others. Southern Crappie beats them all. Spend your money one time and get the best Southern Crappie. Go on South Carolina, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, ect forums and they will tell you the same. There is a new 14' heavy rod for crank baits and 2oz baits. Mississippi boys love them. All my other rods are laying in the floor now. I should have gotten the Southern Crappie rods first.
I can tell you what not to buy (in my opinion ) B&M everyone I had broke at the joint
I have used a bunch of different models and brands. I have not had any issue with the pst rods from bnm. What you are gonna find is rods are like the ford and Chevy debate. This is the best rod and this is the best rod is crap. My advice would be to fish with someone that has different rods and then pick which one you like the best. Secondly if you can't do that then buy one or two rods of each and try them and you can always resell the rods that you didn't like without taking too big of hit. Always some wanting different rods.
What I have noticed is always the newest rod that some one comes out with is the best ever out there and the fad grows. Happened with ozark rods a year or so ago. Just research ozark and see for your self. I have no affiliation with any rod company but can give you non bias observations from using the rods I have fished. There is a difference in a 14 and 16 foot rod in the same brand. The 14 ft rods seem to be more flexible and not the same back bone as the 16 ft in same brand and style.
Capps and Coleman has a very sensitive tip with medium back bone in 16 ft.
Ozark 14 medium sensitive tip with medium back bone.
Ozark 16 foot has a sensitive tip with good back bone.
Pst 14 ft has sensitive tip and medium backbone
Pst 16 ft medium sensitive tip and great back bone.
Bgjp 14 ft sensitive tip and no back bone.
16 ft Bgjp sensitive tip with medium backbone.
These are the rods I have fished. I personally fish the 16 pst and 16 Bgjp.
Backbone and tip action is what to consider. For example on my 16 ft pst I can lift a 2lb fish in the boat easily but can only lift 1.5lb fish in with the Bgjp not easily but can be done. When a minnow shimmers I can see that on he Bgjp but not always on he pst. That has to do with sensitivity.
Folks will always be opinionated and say what is the best rod. They all are good rods and serve different purpose for everyone. So what is the best rod may be the one they like best. They will all handle fish.
Southern Crappie. I have 14's and 16's. Have PST's and have fished the others. Southern's are my rod's now. No need to try anything else.
i have the 14'and 16' southern crappie rods, i tightline with them, i pull jigs with them and i have trolled crankbaits with them, and won a dollar or two doing all three, my favorite thing is how durable they are, these rods can take a beating, carbon and kevlar, who else makes such a rod? ed has forgot more about crappie fishing than most of us will ever even know, and he knows what a good rod should be and these are it.
I had a partner that use to fish the "tightline specials" that Mr. Marshall put out. He seemed to like them just fine. Watched him swim over 14 pounds in the net one tournament with those Wally's. We came in fourth that day. One of the guys that beat us.....that Ed Duke fellow....I think he makes rods down south or something suppose to be good for crappie.
