Very seldom do I get to spend an entire day ay Hyco buy Sunday was different. On the lake from 9: 30 -5:00. Started out in the main channel and caught half dozen and then the weekend crowds woke up and got busy. I retreated up one of the creeks and found some quiet water. Stayed in there all day and thoroughly searched and fished my chosen area. Sometimes as anglers I think we run and gun too much without covering an area more closely. I had confidence fish were there but just had to find them. The morning bite was lite and I had to finesse them with a minnow jig combo to get bit. Even still there were fish in the school that was not interested, the slick calm conditions had them on slow mo. Around 4:00 the bite turned on like flipping a switch and it was a fish every cast. Hot bait was a 2" gulp minnow natural color on 1/16 jig head. Guessing I caught 40+ and kept a limit with average size 11". Also caught a 23" big old momma bass that fought almost to her death. Took a long time to get her revived and swimming again. Great day on the water...nice to see cooler weather. FB
