After a good night at the Tillery Night Stalk, my wife wanted to go try some of our new found knowledge at Badin.

We were fishing in 23 feet of water and were getting most of our bites early between 12-15 feet. The bite then moved to 15-18 feet later in the night.
We brought home 24 crappie, 1 catfish and 3 perch. Most of the Crappie was in the 9 -11 inch range. Once we saw how the fish were averaging we started throwing back 8 inch crappie unless they had been badly hooked. The wife AGAIN caught the big fish of the night. She caught a 13 ¾ inch 1.3 lbs. and a 13 inch 1.22 lbs. crappie. She also caught the Catfish. I was allowed to catch the little big fish in the photo.

I did hook into a nice size crappie that would have given hers a run for their money, but it got off the hook while my wife was trying to get the net. When I hook into a big fish she just doesn’t have the same urgency that she expects of me, when she hooks into a big fish. Go figure. I also hooked into a mystery fish that darn near bend my pole over double and ran tons of drag off the reel. He broke the 6 lbs. test line off, but in truth it was my fault, because I tried to man handle him to the boat. No idea what it was, I figure a Catfish, would have liked to have seen him at the surface.

We love the new reflector lights that Lynn helped us build. We are getting more comfortable with the electronics with everyone’s help and guidance. For the first time my wife had no interest in casting a minnow under a cork/bobber.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help and advice.
