Size: 84.5 KBI was not going to go fishing this weekend because of all the crazy’s on the water but after reading bearclaw report from Crain Creek Park I had to give it a try. Got up early Sunday morning and headed out. Was there a little after opening and was the fifth boat at the ramp. All looked to be slow trolling for crappie. I started long lining right off the ramp and it was a little slow and the fish small. Moved around a lot watching the depth finder. Found them in 15/ 20 feet of water holding at 7/10 feet. If you moved out of that range you did not catch anything. WT 77, water was dirty so dark color jigs worked best. Ended the day at noon with 15 keepers and put twice that many back. Not a bad day for this little lake and all the boats that were on it.

You made the best choice in picking the lake. I don't really like going to Cain Creek due to be charged admission, to fish, to launch the boat etc...., but that was the best choice this weekend to keep away from the jet skis and party boats. I messed up and went to Badin Late Sunday afternoon thinking the traffic would have died down a little. WRONG. I'll see you at Cain Creek next year. Good catch by the way!!

There is no fishing fee at Cane Creek anymore. Just a parking and trailer fee. $8.00 for vehicle and trailer. Fish have been biting well in the mornings.
