    Default Best crappie jig hook

What is the best jig/hook out there that bends out when you hang it up. I am thinking I will start pouring some of my own and want the hook that bends the best. I saltwater fish alot so I have plenty of extra lead to pour my own jigs.

Suggestions? What bends the best? Thanks

    James

I used to use the Eagle Claw 570 bronze jig hook ... size #1 ... but, I haven't poured my own in decades ... as evidenced by the $2.99/hundred price tag on the pkg I still have

I have a site member custom pour them for me, now ... and have them made weedless, so being able to bend the hook out with 4-6lb test line is no longer much of a problem. And I have them made with #2 Aberdeen jig hooks, for both 1/32oz & 1/16oz jig heads.

    ... cp

The best hook is the one with a crappie on it.

I use the Eagle Claw 570 Aberdeen #1 & 2 gold jig hooks, they work perfect in the Do-it molds. I buy all my fishing supplys on line from "LUREPARTSONLINE.COM phone # 1-800-546-8922. Prices are about 1/2 the prices of the big box stores. ex. 100 ct. of the above jig hooks at at basspro is $11.00 plus at LurePartsOnLine $4.50 and no tax. Shipping IMO is a trade off with the price of gas, if you spend $150.00 shipping is free. I've ordered from them 7 times, each time they had all items in stock and i recv. in less than 5 days and receivied what i orded. I always wait till i have the $150.00 mark. The quality has alway been good. Most of their Do-it molds are $29.95 in their 2014 catalog i don't think their was a price increase in 2015.

You can buy jig heads already poured from me cheaper than you can buy the hooks. I have heads with a new Mustad light wire hook that will straighten with 6lb line.
