Having no luck getting back to marked waypoints on the 597 will not connect waypoint to where your boat is positioned any ideas

I have heard a lot people having the problem shad boy is talking about, gps does not keep up with boat.

the gps does not show the line or point u in the direction then says u passes the waypoint just about to add it to my anchor system

Try deleting your tracks. I think that some software versions will only support a certain number of track points. When all the points are full, it'll start messing up. I'm sure there are updates to fix that.

If GPS is slow updating, then slow down. Also. It very important that you know where you antenna is located. If its inside the unit, then you are marking an area that is being returned by the transducer with a GPS antenna that is possibly. (depending on where you have the unit mounted in the boat) several feet away.
Also, always and I mean always, approach the waypoint from the same direction. Think about it for a minute. UNLESS, you have your GPS antenna directly over you transducer, then it is very important what direct you're coming from. Your mark is already several feet off. If you come from the opposite direction, you could be "double" the amount of distances off of the mark or more. Even when the GPS antenna is in close proximity to the transducer. GPS is only accurate within about 3 feet. Depending on what you've marked and what direction your coming from, this could be six feet off..... and six feet off is a lot of distance when you marking something submerged.
In fact, its better to mark more than one waypoint so you can get a reference as to what direction you're coming from. At least, that is my penny. William Frazier's videos will help tons if you get them.
