Coastal Perch This Weekend

I planned to take my Dad to the coast for a three day weekend and seek out some red-fin this weekend. Either Albemarle or Pamlico.
However, its a 5 hour drive and I haven't seen any posts about the perch recently. Is it too late in the year to put any numbers in the boat? Are there any still being caught?
Any help will be appreciated.

Hmmm I was going to go to the Perch Bash on Sat but I have a rare date night with my wife Friday night. I'm not going to make the trip out. But at this point it looks like you will have to deal with Ice. The perch will still be around but I'd maybe put the 5 hour drive off a week.

I'm hoping the warmer weather this week will break up the ice. I may have to focus on points south vs Albemarle.

The Perch were on the banks in New Bern the weekend of 2/21 in New Bern. I'm sure not all have spawned and maybe not many at all with the cold snaps we've had. The water temps then were in the 43-44*f range, and they dropped back to the lower 40s this past weekend.

The last trip that I took at the North River was February 1st and we did well but we caught very few females. Some of the ones that I caught were pushing eggs out. AND ALL the males were shooting everywhere! There is probably a few still around though..... but id have to agree with REDBOAT the ice will probably be a problem on Saturday. Im hoping it will be gone by Sunday to fish the crappie tournament at NWR. Good Luck when you decide to go!
