toting rods nearly as long as ones boat gives everyone trouble, i used to break them down into sections and put them in my rod box, but this was time consuming and aggravating on every trip, but now i personally use and like the rod-safe. the way it clamps down on the butt of the rod prevents any flopping around and it locks so folks cant take your stuff while your in a gas station, restaurant or hotel. go to Rod Safe
