We took advantage of the rainy day to fish the normally busy weekend at Hyco. Hoping the very cool temperatures and occasional rain would keep the crowds away, we were not disappointed. WE did well on structure with minnows and jig combo. Probably caught 30 plus and only kept 8 for a meal with family. We had to move a lot with a few fish at each location. Our best spot was an old road bed in the upper main channel where we left a large school of biting fish. On a side note we just got home from the Great Smokey Mountains ( first trip) and managed a few nice rainbows from the Tuckasegee River that ran past our Mountain Cabin. I am not a big trout angler and was very happy with my personal best 20" fish. That old trout had spent many days in that river. The flesh was orange as salmon. Beautiful place and great summer weather. Thursday morning the temperature was 48*. Great visit with family. FB

Great FB,
I was there Thursday afternoon, and hit a couple of spots I normally fish. Couldn't buy a bite. Then one of my two-year trolling batteries exploded, yep exploded. So that was the end of my fishing for Thursday. Perhaps next week I'll try again.
