Mount it any way you like, best advice is to get on the water and play with it, it's not hard to learn, only had mine a few months and already have the hang of it.

Just got new motor with I- pilot. I need some help, is there a certain way motor has to be mounted on boat. Can it be mounted diagonal or in the center. Also need any advice or tips about using the I- pilot, thanks for any help.

Just remember it has to be mounted farther out than a normal trolling motor. That is so it will clear the boat. Sit it up with some help and see if it will interfere with anything launching and retrieving. Also if you mount it straight out the front most likely your going to hit winch roller with it either launching or loading boat.

When possible, let the wind work for you. Example, when using spot lock, set your spot 5 to 10 feet downwind from the spot. That way you won't overshoot and spook the fish. Read the instruction book carefully, and keep it handy until you get familiar with all the functions. It will definitely change the way you fish. Don't get frustrated, you will learn something every time you use it. B-

I suggest you get the manual and operating guide for quick reference ( I laminated it in plastic to preserve it). There a several " hidden features" that might be over- looked if you don't know they are there. For instance, one click on the auto pilot button puts you in advanced, but hold for two seconds and you're in standard co-pilot. Combine with cruise control and you have a powerful trolling aide. Sometimes the wind will blow the bow off a slow troll course. I will hit the jackrabbit just a touch to restore bow direction, but not enough to affect speed, but that isn't in the manual...just something I do. This is a very handy tool for boat control.
