if you get an si, get the biggest screen that you can afford. it's just like tv, the bigger the screen, the more detail you can see. i have a hb 898, i wish i had bought the bigger screen,

I have a 798 and wish I had a bigger screen, so he's right there as far as the I pilot I love it. It would be hard to fish with out it now.

I have an I pilot and love it. I have a Humminbird 346 on the bow and a 597 at the console. I totally agree on the screen size. The 346 is very hard for me to see. The 597 is wonderful, but could be bigger for old eyes and split screen to follow lake contour. The new models are out now and models like the 597 can be bought cheaper.

Like brimbumm, I have the Lowrance hds7 gen2 w/ structure scan. That wide screen is nice. Agree with others, go for the biggest screen you can.

OK guys I pulled the trigger on a Hummingbird 998c HD SI!!!!! I cannot wait for it to get here this week. Can anyone guess what i will be doing this weekend? Will probably have a ton of questions as i learn the unit. Thanks for all of the advice on the units. Everyone said get the biggest screen that you could afford so i had to ask for a little permission on this one and it was granted. I am also excited to see how this is going to work at the coast this year as well. Again guys thanks for all of the replies!!!!!
