Finally got the chance to get on the water this year. Wrangled myself an invitation to a private lake with my #1 fishing partner(SnowCamp) and the day turned out crappie enough.
We managed to catch 14 with minnows on floating jigheads about 5' behind 1/2oz mini bottom bouncers.
Water temp was 42-44 and nearly every fish was caught around 21' in 27' FOW.
Only caught one fish trolling more than .3mph, most were when we were stopped or almost stopped. The bite was so light I gave up on the rod holders and just held on.
You just gonna sit there an argue, or fish?

Thanks Gene. That little bottom bouncer/floating jighead has worked for me on 2 trips in the last week or so. It don't snag easily and your bait stays up off the bottom 4-5 feet. It's a good way to cover the lower part of the water column.

But, he wasn't with me hahaha
Good job out there on a cold day. Like those fingerless wool gloves...where did you get those. Reminds me of the old military ones...??? FB
" If you are lucky enough to be fishing, you are lucky enough"
The gloves were a Christmas present. They came clipped to an Ugly Stick logo beanie cap with a K-mart/made in China tag on 'em .. so I think they came from K-mart(but I prolly wasn't s'posed to notice that).
Wish they were the old military issue style, but they're cotton instead of wool. They're pretty dandy 'till they get wet.
Hard to beat those course old standard woolens but I haven't seen any around in a long time.
