In the summer time (just around the corner) I am bothered with white small perch at Fall Lake and Jorden Lake . Does anyone have any tips of how to catch the larger one .

Good luck, let us know if you find any. Be sure to add coordinates to your post if you find them, it'll really help out alot.

Bigger hooks will keep you from catching the smaller ones. Thus... you'll only be catching the larger ones.

    Just kidding.....

I don't know about larger ones but I can tell you white perch seem to love shallower flats at night under a light. 10 foot or so.

Thanks alamancecreek and sundance.I will be glad to share all info I can get on white perch. I keep all I catch no mater what the size of them. The small ones make good fertlizer for my tomato plants . The bigger one eat good. I try to remove all I can, because they eat way too many crappie eggs.

I find them in open water near points usually schooling up threadfin shad. If they are scattered I like to net some of the shad hopefully in the 2" range and fish them on down lines with about 1/4 ounce weight just off the bottom. Move around slow till you mark them or catch some. Once they start busting on top just cast a kastmaster at them and jig through pretty quick. Keep casting in the area after they go down just let it sink more. You will catch lots of small ones but I always get a few pushing a pound. I say do what you want with the white perch but do be selective with the White Bass. They are my favorite fish to catch in Falls lake.

Went out last night and caught about 40. Had some nice white Bass mixed in there and one large mouth. Only a few were small most good size. The large bait seems to filter out the small ones though they will choke themselves trying to get a big bait down. Caught a few that were not hooked just had the bait stuck in their mouth.
