According to other posts.... the stripers haven't quite moved in good yet. Most people are still fishing far downstream of Weldon but great fishing can still be had. Cuz and I found a formidable fish in the Roanoke out of sheer boredom. We were anchored downstream of Weldon a few years ago waiting on a striper bite when I grabbed up my browning crappie rod and pitched out my favorite High Rock jig. BAM!!! I thought I'd hooked a striper on the first pitch but as the culprit soared skyward, I got my first glance at a Hickory Shad or baby tarpon as we later named them. We more than salvaged a busted trip to Weldon by catching many of these awesome fighters. Just tie on a double jig, throw at still water, and hold on. They will break off 6 pound line so be ready for a tussle!
