Have read that the periodical cicadas have emerged in the Harris Lake area. Anybody seen or heard them around there, and if so, any place in particular? Would like to check it out. Haven't experienced an emergence in quite some years. Thanks to anyone that may help.
Life jackets can be uncomfortable, but much less so than drowning.

You can hear them pretty much anywhere on the lake. I heard them last week. Also heard them at Lake Reese in Asheboro.
Feel free to come to the house. They are everywhere. Holes all in the group where they come out. Also the shells are everywhere. The 2 labs are eating the cicadas as soon as they come out of the shell.
Every tree in the yard has them all on it. They are everywhere. When they first came out I thought a neigbors alarm was going off. Took me a few to figure out what it was. The kids are amazed. They have never seen them before.

they are all over lexington, trying they're best to drive me crazy
When in doubt, set the hook.

Last week on Jordan you could hear the buzz all around. You could also see dead ones around the parking lot.
Looking at a predicted emergence map, they look like they should be very widespread. Nice to know (I guess!) that they are around Jordan also. Many thanks to everyone.

On Badin today thet were everywhere. And very loud!
I wonder if you tightlined a cicada if crappie would bite them? I would have bait for a lifetime if I froze some.

I saw them on Smith Mountain Lake in Va once and everything from catfish to musky were feeding on them on top water, food was served
