    lake norman:

beaches grocery on hwy 73 has always done me very good. nice sized minnows and often times i scoop em up myself.

on the north end on hwy 150 at the amaco gas station i think (1 or so miles from pinnacle landing) cant tell you how many times i go there and they dont have any minnows, and i have to drive 10 miles out of my way to get some not to mention they count them out 1 by 1....i now pre purchase minnows before i ever fish the N end of the lake.
Full day 1/2 day or evening Striper/Crappie fishing trips available at a very affordable price for
Lake Norman, Badin, Wateree, High Rock.

LAKE NORMAN- Piedmont Bait and Tackle (if Haskel is working...shortbed maroon ford, others, they pretty much count them)

Terrell Bait and Tackle- Always do pretty good there no matter who is working, helps to have been coming in there since I could walk :D

General Store on Hwy 150 in Denver/Sherrills Ford

The old Tackle Town building, on Highway 16 in Denver/Westport is alright too (cant remember the name, it is in a gas station near the old Lee Boys plant)

    Do NOT RECOMMEND the following

the yellow gas station on Hwy 16 (denver) and Unity Church Road...the road that goes to Beatty's Ford Access. They count them. Tackle prices are high.

Piedmont Bait and Tackle when anybody but Haskel is working :D

Unsure about Midway Marina now that the Lancaster boys are running it. Just knowing what they did to the restaraunt and the boat docks as far as prices, Id avoid it and try elsewhere.

good counts aren't the only thing that matters to me, I like the larger sized crappie minnows.

I get most of my minners from the bait store at 64/109 in Thomasville
Cedar Lodge and never had any bad counts.... buy 4 dozen get one free there too

I remember several years ago here on Norman we had to go down to #8 hooks and one baitshop had tiny minnows about 1.25" long. Not sure why they wanted them little like that but regular sized minnows wouldnt work for a couple weeks. In the fall of the year as well I remember.

I have caught some of my biggest crappie on the smaller minnows....

The stores buy the minnows by the pound and if they can sell you half sized minnows, they can get double the money for them.

True but most of those place don't know what size theyre buying. Piedmont B&T I listed in my recommendations is a wholesaler for baitshops around here. They bring them whatever they have. Then it would be the wholesaler's best interest to sell the tackleshops large minnows if they tackleshop or store sells by the doz and not by the lb. Although some places do both. Thats what I like about Piedmont Bait and Tackle. If I want to buy a pound, I can go to the minner mansion and pick what size I want :D.
