Hi! I'm new here and am enjoying reading about your fishing adventures. This spring I started fishing again and was sitting on the bank, not getting bites, and watching guys with boats going to where the fish must have been. I whined silently, I ALWAYS have to stay on the bank wah, wah, wah. Then it occurred to me, NO, I do not have to stay on the bank! After a series of adventures of trying to find a boat I could lift by myself, I now have a tiny boat and trailer. It's a little 8' Sundolphin, which I've redecorated and renamed the WHOOPSIE-DAISY, because of all of the mistakes I've made learning to back the thing down a ramp, use a motor, etc. I could write a book on this. I use a Minnkota trolling motor. Anyway, I've gone out nearly every weekend fishing this summer. I'm a big fan of Richard Gene the Fishing Machine and Fishing With Vance and have gotten hooked on a daily dose of YouTube fishing videos. I've caught bluegill, bass, and ick...catfish, but I have yet to catch or even see the mythical crappie.
I've been out on little lakes and a couple of times to Thomas Hill Lake, where the water is really rowdy, but I go right under the bridge to the calmer side.
My question is this...I want to go to Truman where there are crappie. I just read how some of you go to Buckner? Is this a place where I could take my tiny boat? Is there a better or safer place?
I'm so glad I bought this little boat! I've fished with eagles and heron. I haven't caught a lot, but it's been so fun and so good to get out of the house, learn new things, and watch incredible sunsets!
Cheers!
Carmen
