Had a few things small things to pickup yesterday (Saturday morning) while I was waiting for Marine Repair Center install my new fish finder.

The local coast guard auxiliary was at Bass Pro. They were talking about safety, boat inspections and helping folks get fitted for life vests. They weren't drawing a very big crowd when I was there. We talked a little about life vests those fancy self inflate ones. Then they asked me if I had checked my fire extinguisher lately. I told them that I check it before I get into the boat each time. Its been in the boat since I got the boat new in 2008. Well they told me that most expired within 10 years or less. Got me to thinking that's a cheap investment if your in the middle of a lake and can't swim very good.

So I picked up a new larger one rated for boats the one that came with our Lowes boat might put out a fire in a coffee cup. Yeah most of us don't think of those sort of things unless you need one. I should had realized that they do expire after my years being a volunteer fireman. So as we start the summer boating season remember to check your fire extinguishers.
