In the Army, we use the 2" ball Ram mounts for our BFT (Blue Force Tracker....I forget what the new name is for it) but it's about the size of an 1198 only probably twice as heavy and shock mounted to a 1/4" thick piece of steel all held up by a Ram mount. I haven't had any trouble with mine moving at all, and it REALLLLLY gets bounced around in the HMMWV.

On the other hand, those Ballzout mounts look really sweet.
