Just depends. I got one in my hip about a year ago and been doing good so far.

Man o'man! Getting older sucks. Left leg/knee area has been hurting something terrible. Go to the ortho doc, he xrays me, knee is fine, just a bit of Arthur and overuse. Suggest Cortisone shot. That was 6/21. Friday. By Sunday that knee feels great, back to normal. The dang thing is already starting to hurt again!! That is the leg that carries the weight when the right one is on the trolling motor. I hate sitting down to dip jigs, but standing all day is out of the question if it gets back to hurting like it was.

GRAND KIDS 4 IS ALL YOU NEED
KC those shots sometimes work for a good while and sometimes just for a little bit. I have to sit 99% of the time in the boat because of wearing out both hips and a knee injury. Just slow down a bit on that knee. There is no shame in sitting down while fishing. Just get a longer pole.....![]()
Get a longer pole... first the wife, now you.
Thanks for the responses, guys.

Get you a taller pedestal. Use it to lean against with a "Bicycle" style seat. It got me through my back pain issues. The shots are short term fix for sure. Even the epideral steroid injections I got in my spine before and after surgery were only good for 3-4 weeks.
Thanks, Jared. I've been pondering on that. Do ya'll have the seats and pedestals at Everharts? If not, I'll make a trip to BPS tomorrow after we get back. I've thought about that option and now I'll pull the trigger this week.

I think I catch as many if not more crappie now by sitting down, my taller butt seat still wore me out standing......nothing wrong with my knees, but the back just couldn't take the standing for a long time....... and I can actually dip trees just as good sitting down...... well the ones Ron lets me dip, I don't care he has to take them off.......
A FISH IN THE PAN IS WORTH TWO IN THE LAKE
Gordon-do you have a recessed trolling motor pedal? If not, maybe installing one would help by not having the other leg carry so much weight in an awkward position.
Thought about that too. Will see how the pedestal works and then consider that. I've reached under there to feel if I'd have room. The recess tray would have to be back too far in my last assessment, if pain makes me reconsider again, I'll do some serious measurements and tape off where it would have to be to get a feel for being in that area.
