Gonna have to side with jackb and Beagle on this one. From now on I'll make sure to give people more room. But there was no reason for that guy to act the way he did.

If he was closer to the bank you should have gave him space. Or the other way around. If the fish are on the bank, either one of you should have been able to move and still catch fish. I believe 50ft is the tournament difference, but on the same arm of the lake you should be able to give plenty more. It's not a turf war, it's a couple guys that think they are both right. Give some space and move on, there's a lot of lake. If you aren't tournament fishing, then you'd have to be anchored to have an argument, so stay within the law.

know your rights, and just stick to them. Don't break them. I was in Charlotte last weekend and drove down to my friend's house and fished lake wylie. We were fishing a dock, and a neighbor came over and said the owner didn't want anyone fishing the dock, so I told them to call a dnr agent for the state of SC and have them cite us. That was the end.

Be within your rights, and then complain, until then, shut it up!

I go to the lake to have a good time, enjoy myself and get away from people like that. I refuse to let someone like that spoil my day of fishing. It probably wouldn't have mattered how close or far you were, He would have something to say. His bad day shouldn't turn into your bad day. The hell with him.

You did fine. Sunday after Truman camp we were on Brush Creek, I had two boats MOTOR by within 10' while I was rigging. Asshats. Trolling by to fish other waters is not a biggie, humming by with the outboard, not polite.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.

Beagle tied his boat to mine a couple years ago and we all just shot the breeze for a while. He's the real deal.
