    Default Road kill rabbit

I haven't seen a road kill rabbit in my parts for over 10 years, beagle dogs getting fat, nothing to chase, got a couple in my yard once in awhile, but none flat on the highway? darn shame, used see one every 10 miles or so.... I would rather shoot a nice rabbit than a deer or a turkey, but guess the money is in the deer and turkey?

Rabbit are running wild in the burbs. We have dozens of them in Raymore, not enough aggressive cats and NO coyotes.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.

Hawks and Bobcats. Cats get in the wild, (house cats),,... bobcats will eat most of them. Owls play a big part too, but in all honesty how many hawks does one see VS rabbits?
Yep, hawks and bobcats. Every body bull dozes off so much, that even a mouse can't hide,,... and then wonder, What happened to all the small game, when all the time, it gives a clearer picture for the hawks and also the bobcats for they can see very well too. Also where ever and whenever a rabbit "homesteads" an old ground hog hole to raise a litter in,,... an armadillo will run them out, and take it over! Also,,... a rabbit can't survive off fescue and all who I know plants it for the cattle around here. Used to,,... almost everyone raised a little grain, and then left some cover somewhere on their place and also left all the brush-piles. That is at least my .02 for where I live, here in Mid-Mo. If we got rid of the hawks, pack rats and snakes would eat us alive, and also it is against the law. You know there is not ONE thing that a human does, when it comes to outdoors, that does not affect wildlife somehow. Even just being there, standing quietly, with no harm intended will make a hawk or a turkey so nervous if they see you, they will leave and therefore you have ruined a plan that Mother Nature was going to let happen, and you have stopped it and intervened in their home grounds so,,,... Yep. Hawks and Bobcats and coyotes too!

You're absolutely right. I have only seen one dead on the side of the road in probably the last 10 years. The one I saw was last week driving down hwy 100 and a hawk was ripping the fur out of it. I dont know if he killed it or if it was the victim of a tragic accident, but the red tail was having himself a nice meal as I was slowing to make my turn.

All that being said, I do see a direct coorelation between how much time I spend hunting coyotes and bobs and the number of bunnies I see on my place. I hadn't seen or heard bobwhites in years. I remember being sung to sleep nearly every night by those things and it's been probably 15 years since I'd heard them. I had done a lot of coyote hunting a couple of years back and last summer I not only heard but saw a small covy of quail. I was seeing a lot of rabbits too, but they are all on the delicne again and I've been seeing a lot more coyotes again.
