With today's computers, pads, etc. why not keep the kids at home, and no school shootings, college as well? bet the mommies would raise cain.....the teachers could work out of a building a lot smaller than a school house and no buses, cut the cost way down.....everyone wants all these high tech. toys then put them to good use instead of playing with them....just thinking is all......

We homeschool our youngest (the three older all went to public school) because he was "diagnosed" with ADHD and we didn't want to give him prescription drugs to "control" it. Not all kids learn by sitting in desks listening to lectures, especially not boys. Some need to get their hands dirty, but that doesn't work in structured school settings.

So my wife stays home and I go to work and we pay our bills. But not without sacrifice. Our cars aren't new, our house isn't huge, and my boat is a complete P.O.S. But they drive, it's big enough for us, and it floats so I guess that's all that matters. And my youngest son's social development has to take place at other places like church and homeschool co-ops. It works.

    No, Monty....you're not nuts.

Well...maybe you are....but not about this.

Oh, some collectivist would have a stroke reading this form of Blasphemy.

    I agree it’s a good idea.
Joedog is a fine example of a Man that takes responsibility for his child and gives up niceties to protect his child from the influences of collectivist.
    I applaud him for this.

Extracted from 'The Left, The Right & The State:
In truth, if the education sector were ever completely in private
hands, nothing like the current system would continue to
exist. Most administrators would be without jobs in the school
system. The schools themselves might become retail centers.
Education would be radically decentralized and mixed with
private enterprise. Schools would come and go. Teacher salaries
would probably plummet. No one would have a right to an
education guaranteed by the state. The state could ask for and
expect no content or results from education at any level.
A huge range of alternatives would exist, but rare among
them would be the current system of megaschools that operate
as holding tanks for thousands. Of course we cannot know in
advance what this sector would look like, what shapes it might
take in the future, but that is precisely the point.

I should have been a school teacher, it would be all day training for crappie fishing and how well I can use the willow stick on some bottoms....then spend the rest of my life in prison for spanking someone......
