    Default Spider rig set-ups

I am wanting to get a spider rig set-up for my boat. I have narrowed it down to 2, Hi-Tek and the Cumberland rigs. I have asked Jarrod about the Hi-Tek equipment and his has worked well for him but am asking if anyone has the Cumberland style. In particularly the 360 set-ups. I like aspects of both. A couple of questions about the set-ups. Is there a need to change the elevation of the main post, as in the Cumberland and does it hold? I have found that with age handled screws tend to slip since you can't get them as tight as wrenched. And also, does the rod holder clamp without slipping after a year or two? I really like the way Hi-Tek supports the main post to the boat. Looking to get 2 set-up and extra bases for the back of the boat. Thanks for any help or comments. I've done a search and have not found much on the 2 set-ups compared. Thanks again and looking forward to seeing everyone in May.

I was just looking at the Cumberland 360 last night online. I actually like the ability to raise and lower the upright post. I like to lay my hands/fingers on the rods while in the racks. You will feel a lot of bites that you may never see. So being able to raise them up higher for big guys like us should help to find a comfortable height to do this. The holders on them are very similar to the Hi-Teks and Bee Ready's. Only about $15 difference in price. I would not be afraid to buy the Cumberland's. I also like their double seat base.

I bought and tried 3 different kinds of rod holders before I got my Hi-Teks......Would have saved a bunch of money had I got them first. No complaints what so ever.....I love them.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

I want to thank everyone for responding. And after doing a search and reading some of the threads on the Indiana board and speaking to the Cumberland people I decided to go with the Cumberland set-ups. I found out one of my concerns about how the post attaches to the base was updated to a slide fit and lock. Rather than 2 flat pieces of metal screwed together. Should get here next week. Look forward to trying it out. Thanks again.

Did you go with the 360 or tight lock style holders? The base was a concern of mine also compared to the dove tail style I have now on the Hi Teks.

I can't say yea or nay on Cumberland but all of us that have Hi-Teks are very pleased and mine are so easy to use and will NOT slip like some of the others. All you need is a half inch wrench and your good to go!!! Good luck with your new ones.
