Default Rivers are gonna get mighty low

Last friday they shut down the flow of water from the Gavin's Point Dam(?) in South Dakota by 40%. Will be interesting to watch the Missouri to see how low she will go. Suppose to start dropping down here saturday. It already is really low. Gets much lower it may be hard to launch a boat or impossible to launch 1. If they hold all that water back to fill up the lakes upstream they better hope the west doesn't get a big snow pile like in 2011. The Mo river was flooded all summer.

Link to a web cam to watch how big the sandbar will get at Dundee(between New Haven & Washington) with the river going down. Dundee Net Cam on the Missouri River, Dundee, Missouri

Seems to reason that if the MO is high then the other rivers would be high also. I would like to have high water conditions on Truman for the Spring. It's great fishing and seems to greatly benefit future classes of fish. I could expound but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Give me some willow fishing anyday.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

I remember couple years ago catching fish around submerged picnic tables and electric hook-ups.
I just KNOW it was a big one!!!

I do love those flooded willows.

I gotta admit, I hope the river is up next spring, too. I need at least 14ft of river at washington (it's around 2ft now) to get the mullberry trees in the water. falling mullberries into flooded water = some fine fishing for anything that swims....
but for this winter, I like it when the river is around 2ft, it really concentrates the cats into a handful of the deepest holes. but it sounds like the river is gonna be lower than that this winter, ptobably so low that we won't be able to use the ramps... my wife will be liking that!!
had time to hit the ol river today, put in at newhaven... no winter blues bite just yet, but I did catch a couple of channel cats....
