It's unfortunate that there are people that work 40-60hrs a week and make less then 20K a year, but in many cases, these jobs are critical, as are most jobs in our society. Some of these jobs are critical to the very fabric that binds our society and economy. When I got out of the service, I could have drawn unemployment for 15 months, but I took a job in the first 30 days and only got 1 check from unemployment. My first paycheck after a week was a little less then half of what unemployment was. I had 1 kid and a wife at the time. I got better jobs as I could but the EIC really made it possible for me to make ends meet for the first few years. Since then, I've got a degree and changed my status a little.

When I was in the Army we were on WIC and food stamps, all while I was deployed for Desert Shield/Storm. EIC is basically COLA for people who are doing crap jobs and making very little money. Put a flat rate in with no exemptions, then you won't have to get mad a poor people who get a credit, even if they are the very people protecting your freedoms. I bet we would have starved if it was up to people like you....

Unlike you, I'd give a break to those filling jobs that pay less, rather then those who make millions. I don't think I'm worth more than anyone else.

If you don't like making $15k per year, get up and do something about it. There are opportunities, fewer than there were even 4 years ago, but there are some. And starting this November there will be more.

You just proved my point, thanks. You did what you had to do and made yourself better, outstanding! That should be the American way. As far as helping people. I would be the 1st person to drive to Price Chopper and spend $100 in groceries for someone that was in your situation and doing whatever they could to feed their families and make themselves better. And I would'nt even ask for a tax break. So if it were up to people like me, nobody would starve.

All about supporting the military folks any way we can but most on the government teat are not the person you are.:thumbup

Firsthand experience here: Had an employee working for me in a warehouse made 24,000 gross. He called in sick a lot, never worked overtime, had three kids, and would not marry his baby’s mama because it would end some of his government assistance. Earned income tax refund = $9000.00 and what did he do with the money? Big screen TV, Play station 3, electric guitar and a $1000.00 tattoo.

Man our tax money well spent! That’s why we become a little cynical.

Romney donated almost 15% of his income to charity and Biden donates .2% of his income so who’s the most giving? Don’t make me donate money for needless crap which is where the majority of it goes, like it or not. How many on government assistance take drugs and continue to have kids. Guess who the loser is, the KIDS and taxpayers!

No disrespect meant to anyone just my personal opinion and experience, but this thread did make the forum more interesting! It was getting boring and Jarred need something to occupy his time.
