I have 1700 tomato plants in right now and 200 more to go! Picked 800 lbs Friday. Blossom end rot is terrible this year, I even have it on my 300 pepper plants, yes it is a calcium problem, (lack of). I do not understand why we are having such a bad year with it. I have never had it this bad! Losing 20 to 30% of crop to it. Talked with horticulture specialist for MU and he said due to heat, fruit set quick before good root development, plant roots could not supply enough calcium to the plant, for what ever that is worth? I have even been spraying a calcium product on mine, Nutri-Cal, suppose to fix it all, first time I have used it, and I have it worse than I ever have?
As for the worms there are plenty of them also, I have even had some eating the habanero pepper plants, never seen one on a pepper plant in my life!
