Yes the calcium spray will only help the ones to come, the blossom end rot starts as the bloom turns to tomato or pepper. So once you see the fruit it either has it or don't! I still have 200 plants that are only about 3 inches tall, that will be the last planting for a total of 1900. Can't wait till October so I can go fishing again!

My maters did good until the heat finally got 'em. I still have some plant left with alot of green tomatoes but all the leaves on the bottoms of the plants are gone now. With multiple days of 100*+ temps I just couldnt keep 'em cool enough. They looking bad and it's way too hot and dry to try planting any fall produce. My bale, cayenne, and sweet peppers are doing fine.
You should come check it out! Any of you guys around KC want to your welcome. The boys just picked 22, 25# box's off of 2 rows (100 plants per row) out of 13 that are producing! Anybody want to do some canning I got plenty at good price. Just put call into Society of St. Andrew to donate them to Gleaners!
I've only got 50 or so in different places. Already fought and pretty well won the tomato worm war, fought and won the striped beetle war, still fighting the drought war but holding my own there. I had a MAJOR infestation of striped beetles that showed up overnight by the thousands, they stripped the entire lower portion of the plants, totally stripped pepper plants and even stripped some pigweed growing under the plants. A few hours work spraying them with some, either pyrethrin I believe and when I ran out of that, I dug out some 55% Malthion, I love watching them die, the mater worm didn't like it either, they fell off squirming and writhing. Had to let the plants and fruit set for several days before I was brave enough to eat them again. Now about to finish up the sweet corn and final green beans. Zuccini's already gone and cucumbers too. May plant some more of them. Makes for a second job to come home and water them all.
