That is a bunch of grass carp. How bigs the water? I used to know a guy. Don't know if he still has the carp though. Bought some from him almost thirty yrs ago now.

i have bought fish from the people at cash, ark. they did have the white amurs for ponds. i don't know if they have them now. if you are wanting the fish to eat vegatation in a pond the white amur will do it and it only takes a few. i know a man that had a 60 acre lake that had a lot of coontail moss in it. he put 92 he said in the lake. why 92 i don't know but in 3 years they cleaned it out and people were catching them baiting hooks with tree leaves. i don't know where you are in the bootheel but cash, ar is not far below jonesboro, ark they put the fish in bags with lots of oxygen in it. give'em a call.

by the way, the man told me that had he known how fast the fish would have cleaned out his lake he wouldn't have put near as many. i think they only say 5 or 6 to an acre. not sure about that but it's not many.

I put 15 in my pond about 7 years ago it's about an acre and a half. About 7 or 8 survived and there is no more moss issue. It would get so bad in the summer you couldn't fish it. The things are about 15 pounds now.

They are fun to catch too. We catch them on worms and bread. My nephew caught a 49# on rod and real and man could that thing make the drag sing.

Was it moss or rooted plants,they say the only like rooted vegation.
The lake is about 100 acres.

Actually now when I mow if I shoot grass into the pond they will eat it right off the top.

That would be about right i guess. We put maybe a half dozen in ~1.5 acre pond. Worked good. My hooked one about twelve yrs ago or so. Got it to the bank, and one hand in a gill. Couldn't lift it out of the water, and couldn't hold it when it would flop. Got it back in, got it by one hand, dropped the rod and two handed it and it flopped again and was gone. Big strong fish. One scale fell off, it was time and a half big as a siver dollar. Was longer than my daughter was tall. It had to be 4 foot long or at least close to it. Pond is still clean, I suppose there may be some of them still alive.
