    Default The boy got one

My son and I went turkey hunting this morning and he shot this nice 21 pound bird, pretty funny how it happened I put out a gobbler decoy (foam jake decoy with a real turkey tail fan attached to it) with a couple of hen decoys by it, had a nice gobbler come by just past daylight but I think the gobbler decoy scared it off. So we hunted another couple of hours with no luck so we were headed back to the truck and I called one last time and we heard one just on the other side of this creek gobble, I said we were just going to use the hen decoys so I hid the gobbler decoy in some tall grass, we set up about twenty yards apart and I heard some noise behind me in the woods and I was looking behind me when my son said the turkey flew across the creek and landed by the hen decoys. He said it seen the the gobbler decoy that was hidden in the grass and went straight to it, so I turn around and see this turkey fan sticking out of the tall grass and I thought great the wind is blowing the gobbler decoy out of the grass until it turned around and seen it's head. I thought my boy was asleep so I quietly as I can say SHOOT HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . Which he did and I ask him what took so long???? he did not think he was close enogh! only a 25 yard shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rofl

Good looking bird and great story. Guess he can hunt just as good as he fishes. Sounds like a fun morning.
