Found 13 smokies today in same area as the previous 40. the ones today were definately alot easier to spot. I think by the first to middle of next week the white ones should be coming up, and it would be a good time to look for them. The rain definately helps more than sun. I had went to a spot a couple years ago and found about 60 on a monday, it rained and stayed cloudy for two days, I went in same spot wednesday and found another 45. I am sure I did not walk over that many two days prior.

Decided to head south in hopes of some grey, white or reds! Went south of Clinton and this is what we found. We also found a few small whites, I mean small. Talked with my cousin and he found 126 whites and they made 1 gallon!

Damn looks good Mark. I have never tried the reds before but sure like the whites and greys. May have to get out and look around. The sun is out and bright right now. May make some pop after the rain we have had.

Your killing me Mark.I went today to some new ground and found NADA.Did jump up about 30 turkeys though so thier lifespan just got alittle shorter with that right around the corner
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

Drove by the spot in GV and only saw turkeys, have not been out walking it yet, I think it is a little early up here. Maybe by the weekend.

Any-one have any idea what the whites or yellows will be doing on Easter week-end around the Mark Twain Lake area? Were from Iowa heading down to fish and wife wants to hike and walk around the lake to find some, while I try to catch some crappie. Thanks

Found about 30 greys and a few little whites yesterday.
Never have eaten the greys before, wouldnt think they were much different than the whites.

Not sure I would allow my wife to hike around any secluded area without my being with her. Just too many crazies out there these days. Besides, me and Mr. Ruger make pretty good hiking company.

Also watch out for poison ivy around that lake. The few times that I have been out on the bank I couldn't find a place to walk without that stuff being there. I get that stuff really bad so it is number 1 on my radar when out in the woods. Way above snakes or anything else.
