The 798 and HDS5 are the gateway "drug" finders. Although the first hit isn't free, soon you'll be wanting more. Congrats to all who get new units, enjoy, and let the unit help you work smarter, not harder. If I had to pick a single item, I'd take GPS. But having all the tools and my disposal makes each trip more enjoyable. ** Disclaimer *** there are times that fishing is so tough that electronics are little help, and such small technique changes make the difference. I have seen this several times in the fishbowl when things get tough. In some situations, you'll learn more from turning the finder off, and tuning your self in. ***End Disclaimer***

Putting what you see into practice with what you know, can put more fish on the table, in the weigh in bag, or on your neighbors table.

If that was meant for me, thanks. I am saying that there are times when electronics are not the deciding factor, but I'll say that some times they are. I put as much money to them as I can afford, and try to learn as much as I can from them. There will be times where they are the key, and times when they don't matter. Not having them in the times when they are key, is when they matter.

You'll know the difference. Those who have and use them know what I'm saying.
